VPX100

A VPX graphics or GPGPU board is a rugged plug-in computing card that provides GPU-based graphics, video, or parallel-processing capabilities in a VPX system.

VPX is a modular embedded-computing standard commonly used in aerospace, defense, radar, industrial, and other harsh-environment applications.

A VPX graphics board typically includes:

• A GPU
• Dedicated graphics memory
• PCI Express or another high-speed VPX backplane interface
• Display outputs such as DisplayPort, DVI, or HDMI
• Sometimes video capture or camera interfaces
• Rugged cooling, such as conduction cooling
• Support for extended temperature, shock, and vibration

Typical uses include:

• Driving cockpit or command displays
• Radar and sonar visualization
• Real-time image and video processing
• Artificial-intelligence inference

• General-purpose GPU computing

Compared with a standard desktop graphics card, a VPX graphics board is designed for ruggedness, long-term availability, reliable cooling, and operation inside embedded VPX chassis.

Description:

VPX100 is a carrier module (VITA 46) for general purpose MXM modules which supports multiple GPGPU suppliers.  VPX100 can support PCIe Gen4 x16.

The module can be ordered with the PCIe x4, x8 or x16 routed to the VPX P1 connector. This allows the most flexibility for custom backplanes.

VPX100 routes DP and I/O to the VPX P2 connector or to the Front Panel.  

The module supports Tier-1 and Tier-2 where the health management monitors the temperature of the module and reports to the higher-level shelf manager with a dedicated IPMI controller.
