Versal AI Core FPGA (XCVC1902) FMC+ Carrier, 3U VPX
A VPX FPGA FMC carrier board is a rugged plug-in board for a VPX chassis that combines:
- an FPGA for real-time processing, and
- one or more FMC or FMC+ connectors for attaching specialized I/O mezzanine cards.
The VPX interface connects the board to the chassis backplane, while the FMC module provides application-specific functions such as:
- high-speed ADC or DAC conversion
- RF input and output
- camera or video interfaces
- digital I/O
- optical or high-speed networking
- timing and synchronization
Compared with a MicroTCA FPGA FMC carrier, the main difference is the system architecture. A VPX carrier uses the VPX backplane and is often designed for rugged environments, with features such as conduction cooling, high resistance to shock and vibration, and extended-temperature operation.
Description:
VPX401 is a 3U VPX FPGA Carrier with single FMC+ (VITA 57.4) interface. The unit has an onboard, re-configurable FPGA which interfaces directly to the VPX P1/P2 connector and all FMC+ LA/HA/HB pairs (the module does not support HSPCe connector and has only 16 SERDES routed to the FMC+).
The FPGA interfaces to two DDR4 memory blocks (8GB of 64-bit wide with ECC to the Processor Subsystem and 8GB of 64-bit wide to the Fabric). This allows for large buffer sizes to be stored during processing as well as for queuing the data to the host.
The VPX401 is based on AMD Versal AI Core Series XCVC1902 MPSoC FPGA. The FPGA has 1968 DSP Slices and 1968K logic cells. The XCVC1902 includes Dual-core ARM application processor, dual-core ARM Cortex-R5F. The module has x16 SerDes routed to the P1 and x8 SerDes which could run any protocol such as PCIe, SRIO, Ethernet, Aurora, etc. The module has dual GbE that could run as 1000Base-T to the P2 or as 1000Base-X to the P1 (ports 15/16).
The module has onboard 64 GB of Flash, 128 MB of boot flash and an SD Card as an option.
