Advanced RAID Controller for SAS/SATA, single-width AMC
A MicroTCA storage AMC module is a plug-in storage board for a MicroTCA chassis.
It usually fits into an AMC slot and provides local data storage using devices such as:
- NVMe SSDs
- SATA SSDs
- Flash memory
- Sometimes multiple drives arranged for higher capacity or redundancy
The module connects to the MicroTCA backplane through interfaces PCIe, SATA, or Ethernet, depending on the design.
Typical used for recording high-speed ADC or RF data, storing measurement results, holding operating systems and application software, buffering data before network transfer and providing local storage for a processor AMC.
As a standardized platform of PICMG MicroTCA systems are typically used in medical applications, telecommunications, defense as well as in measurement systems for industrial and scientific applications (e.g. particle physics).

AMC628 is a very high end single module, mid size AdvancedMC (AMC) form factor based on the AMC.1 and AMC.3 specification. With the capability to do RAID levels 0, 1,5 and 6 it is the most advance RAID controller in the market. In addition it has capability to do RAID spans 10, 50 and 60.
The Module has two mini-SAS - SFF-8644 x4 to connect to anexternal JBOD or other MTCA Chassis Storage solution.
The RAID has capabilities for online capacity expansion and level migration. Further, auto resume after loss of system power during arrays array rebuild or reconstruction, load balancing, check consistency for background data integrity.
The RAID is managed via a sophisticated GUI and runs LSIMegaRAID software.
