Compact MicroTCA Conduction Cooled Chassis, 2 AMC Slots

A MicroTCA chassis or crate is the enclosure and backplane that holds and connects the modules in a MicroTCA system.

It typically contains:

  • AMC slots for FPGA, CPU, RFSoC, digital I/O, storage, and other modules
  • An MCH slot for the MicroTCA Carrier Hub or an integrated MCH
  • A backplane for high-speed data, clocks, management, and power
  • Power modules
  • Cooling fans
  • Sometimes redundant power, cooling, and MCH modules

The chassis provides both the mechanical structure and the electrical infrastructure for the system.

As a standardized platform of PICMG MicroTCA systems are typically used in medical applications, telecommunications, defense as well as in measurement systems for industrial and scientific applications (e.g. particle physics).

Description:

VT878 is a conduction cooled MicroTCA chassis designed for two AMC modules with direct port-to-port connections. The modules are mounted in the chassis, with close thermal coupling to the upper surface.

Depending on installation requirements, the lower surface of the chassis can be bolted to a vehicle wall or a cold plate for additional cooling. The chassis includes a DC input power supply that can be customized for particular vehicle platform requirements. No MCH is needed, so the unit will boot autonomously.

Since the backplane and the internal mechanical structure of the chassis are specific to the AMC modules integrated into the system, this unit is intended for volume applications.

Key Features:

  • Compact and robust MicroTCA conduction cooled chassis
  • Customized for each particular AMC module pair
  • Designed for wall or cold plate mount in ground or air vehicle
  • 40G connection between modules
