A PMC module is a small mezzanine expansion card used in embedded computer systems.
PMC stands for PCI Mezzanine Card. It is based on the conventional PCI bus and plugs onto a larger carrier board such as a VME, CompactPCI, or sometimes VPX carrier.
A PMC module can provide functions such as Ethernet, serial ports, data acquisition, avionics interfaces, storage controllers, digital I/O, or specialized signal processing.
PMC is an older standard than XMC. The main difference is that PMC uses parallel PCI, while XMC typically uses high-speed serial interfaces such as PCI Express.
